EXAMPLES
Problem:
Branch from neighbor's tree overshadows
the second floor area of this proposed new home. City will not give
permit to trim it, and house cannot be reversed because of other
trees which would then be in the driveway and could not be removed.
Solution: Remove
one of the three garages and create a library under the branch.
EXAMPLES
Problem:
The prototype of the house the client
wanted was 75' wide, but the homesite it had to go on was a "Z"
shaped lot with only 40' of construction width, and there were two
30 degree angles in it! It was also in a flood zone on Tampa Bay.
Solution: Create
a longer house, with the recording studio over a separate cabana
attached to the house by a lanai and balcony. The garage has high
enough ceilings for a storage platform. The pool angles to accentuate
the view from the family room French doors, and the owners carried
the European theme throughout the inside.
EXAMPLES
Problem: Owner wanted a spectacular master bath with lots of
window space, but the house is in a community where homes are 15'
apart.
Solution: Put the bath tub outside the frame of the house, using
mitered glass panels and a privacy enclosure with gate to the back
yard. The area in this case will be landscaped in a semi-tropical
theme, and give the illusion you're outside.
EXAMPLES
Problem: Corner lot in a community limits the width of the single
floor house the owners want. They also want a large bonus room
for the 3 boys to enjoy.
Solution: Angle the garages and create a staircase that doesn't interfere with the
traffic pattern. Also, put the bonus room over the garages, where
activity noise will not disturb others.
